Live Healthy

I am not one to complain about what people post on tumblr or facebook but sadly I could not get this post out of my mind today. On this blog I promote healthy recipes most of which work with weight watchers which is the program I used to lose my weight. I use tons of vegetables in my recipes and focus on slimming down my families favorites. This person I came across today had posted a before and after picture on a tumblr group I followed and talked about how they lost their weight through healthy eating of going to the gym. However in the pictures you can see how unhealthy the person truly was. Everyone’s body needs fuel if they are going to keep moving in the gym and even through out the day. A lot of people who are just starting their weight loss journey cut their calories by way to much and try to spend countless hours at the gym. By the end of the first week they are so worn out and completely drained that they decide they don’t feel better and cut their journey short. Others find themselves devouring food left and right trying to make up what their bodies need.

I find that many young people are more caught up in how they feel emotionally then how their body feels.  Girls have unhealthy expectations shoved down their throats from the first time they get their own barbie to models in magazines. Its not just girls who are pushed into unhealthy things, boys are shown that only the fit and good looking get the girls and are popular.

It is up to parents and family members to help show the younger generation how to live a healthy lifestyle and accept themselves for who they are and what they look like. We take our son out with us for runs at night and during the day to help show him how fun it can be to get out and move around.

If you know someone who is going about unhealthy ways to lose weight, even if they don’t think it is unhealthy, do not let them continue on. Try and get them help and to see how they are truly hurting themselves. Most of the time just you on your own will not get them to change their ways, seek out a professional to help and get their family and loved ones in as well. Promote a healthy lifestyle with acceptance and happiness. Show your kids that accepting themselves and others is the only way to live.
