Banana “Ice Cream”

bananaicecreamSo me and a few friends started a little weight loss group and we had our first meeting on Sunday. It was awesome being able to talk to people and get ideas for things. So this idea came up about freezing bananas and then tossing it into a food processor. I tried the next day and well it didn’t really come out how I expected. So I turned to the internet and got some advice and waalaa! The new favorite “ice cream” in my house had been born. I decided not to tell Rion that it isn’t real ice cream because then it will become something he won’t like, even though he loves it.

This idea is awesome for those who can’t tolerate milk, like my husband, but still want to enjoy sweet healthy things. You can mix in anything you want, I chose peanut butter tonight but tomorrow I am mixing in some yummy nutella.

Here is what you will need:

  • 4 bananas sliced
  • any toppings that you want

Here is what you do:

  1. Take the banana slices and spread them our on a plate. Stick the plate in the freezer for about an hour. Check on them to make sure they don’t over freeze but make sure they are solid all the way through before taking them out.
  2. Once frozen transfer to a food processor and blend well. After a couple seconds the bananas will break down and become a nice creamy substance that reminds me of soft ice cream. Now you can mix in what ever toppings you chose. I used peanut butter, but if you want to add chocolate chips or anything else this is the time. Now pulse it a couple more times to get everything mixed together. Toss into a freezable container and let it sit in the freezer for about a half hour to let it set. Then enjoy!

The awesome thing about this recipe beside being delicious is that without any toppings it is ZERO ww points! Bananas are a fruit and fruits are free! So the only thing you can to worry about it what you toss on top! Try all different kinds of things and let me know what you like the best!
