I am not one to complain about what people post on tumblr or facebook but sadly I could not get this post out of my mind today. On this blog I promote healthy recipes most of which work with weight watchers which is the program I used to lose my weight. I use tons of vegetables in my recipes and focus on slimming down my families favorites. This person I came across today had posted a before and after picture on a tumblr group I followed and talked about how they lost their weight through healthy eating of going to the gym. However in the pictures you can see how unhealthy the person truly was. Everyone’s body needs fuel if they are going to keep moving in the gym and even through out the day. A lot of people who are just starting their weight loss journey cut their calories by way to much and try to spend countless hours at the gym. By the end of the first week they are so worn out and completely drained that they decide they don’t feel better and cut their journey short. Others find themselves devouring food left and right trying to make up what their bodies need.
Pinterest will most likely be the death of me…or at least my wallet. For some reason I have been craving sweet things these past couple of weeks. Part of me wonders if it is because I stayed away from them over the holidays. Well this one “recipe” kept popping up and I had to try it. I use quotations because really even my 7 year old could throw this one together.
So me and my sister went in on a $100 deal for 60 lbs of meat (with six people to feed in this house that was an amazing deal!) and I have come into contact with something other then boneless skinless chicken breast. That had been my staple for chicken since I have started weight watchers but now I am a little more comfortable cooking with other parts. I also realized that they were not boneless or skinless when I thawed them out but that’s okay just a little extra work never hurt anyone!
One of the things I have friends tell me is that they can’t work out because they have kids. No time between sports and what they need to do. I understand you can’t bring your six year old to a crossfit class however there are several activities that are kid friendly, and plus remember they will take after you! Here are some awesome ideas you can try with your little (or older) ones!
So 2012 was probably the best year and worst year of my life. Most people only saw my amazing weight loss journey and awesome overcoming of many obstacles, but there are those few who know everything that happened this past year. I was able to overcome huge leaps and bounds because of the choices I had made. I thought long and hard about sharing this story (even though my sister in law thinks I should write a book about it) but I realized that I am only withholding information that could help other people.
So if you have any Italian in your family you have definitely had eggplant parm. Most of the time the eggplant is breaded and fried and then the dish is loaded with cheese. Now my unofficial Uncle Louie makes a really mean eggplant parm but he has told me it is definitely not healthy. So I made it my personal mission to create a satisfying and healthier version of this dish.
So you can not get awesome views like this from just walking in your neighborhood (unless of course you live somewhere like this then…enjoy!) However like most people I live in a industrialized city and we have our parks but nothing extreme. Now last year my husband bought me a book from our local EMS store. It has 60 hikes within 60 miles of Philly and we made a goal to complete all the trails before we bought another book. We did a couple local trails first but then we became completely hooked. And by we I mean just me since my husband has always been one for the outdoors. I am here to share some of my starter tips for first time hikers.
